ANSELM KIEFER | All That is the Case | Kunsthalle Würth | Schwäbisch Hall
The exhibition spans Anselm Kiefer’s exploration of history, philosophy, and memory, moving from his early 1960s and 70s "Occupations" and "Heroic Symbols" to Robert Fludd’s natural philosophy on the microcosm and macrocosm,Velimir Khlebnikov’s battle fantasies, and the Kabbalah’s "Heavenly Palaces." It features forgotten historical women, lead libraries symbolic of preserved knowledge, and Kiefer’s response to Madame de Staël’s romanticized view of German thinkers. Finally, it highlights his deep engagement with the poetry of Paul Celan, whose work powerfully refuted Adorno’s claim that writing poetry after Auschwitz was impossible without aestheticizing horror..
